Getting a CVS Client

Windows users can use the graphical WinCVS program:

• WinCVS can be found at www.wincvs.org
• Click on Download to go to the download page
• Find the "WinCVS 1.2 *STABLE* / Client + Local / Binaries" version
• Click on The x86 version 1.2 and find the file called wincvs120.zip
• Extract the zip file, run Setup.exe, and restart your computer

Linux users can use the command line CVS program:

• Install autoconf and automake if you don't have them already
• CVS can be found at www.cvshome.org
• Click on CVS Downloads to go to the download page
• Download the CVS 1.11.1p1 source distribution
• Extract the archive
• Open a console and go to the CVS source directory
• Run the following commands:

  ./configure
  make
  su -c "make install"
  

  (The last command will require your super user password)
